Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to share with you why I hope you will support and endorse me in my candidacy for re-election.

I joined Virginia Beach City Council in 2019, and if you want to talk about a “trial by fire,” I had one.  In my very first meeting, I had to vote on a budget drafted by the other 10 Councilmembers..  In that same month, the mass shooting happened in our municipal center.

Within a year, the global COVID pandemic shut down most of the world, and oceanfront George Floyd protests were damaging storefronts.  To say I expected these events would be crazy. No one could’ve foreseen them. But to say I was unprepared would be untrue. I was ready and up to the challenge.

On COVID, I led in a strong way to reopen and support our small businesses, helping them survive. I was the leading voice on City Council to support our great network of nonprofit organizations to help them meet the needs of so many during that period of time.

In the wake of the mass shooting, I was and remain the leading advocate on City Council to call attention to the mental health crisis in Virginia and the nation and worked to increase mental health funding and support.

I also represent the area that was hit hardest by Hurricane Matthew and successfully fought for the highest funding levels for flood mitigation in Virginia Beach history.

Moving forward, inflation and rising costs are hitting everyone, so I will continue to fight for affordability strategies that include tax relief and bringing more and better jobs to Virginia Beach.

I will always support our police, fire and emergency professionals and volunteers to make sure we remain one of the safest cities our size in America. 

Our veteran community is such an integral part of who we are in Virginia Beach, we must make sure they have access to the best health care and job opportunities we can.  We want veterans to choose Virginia Beach!

I have been fortunate in elections with your strong support. I’ve had margins of victory of 30 points or better and will work hard campaigning this year.

As you know, 2024 is a district election and once again, I am the only Republican running in my home of District 3. If you don’t know where District 3 is, think Mount Trashmore!

I am very proud to have such a unique place like Mount Trashmore in District 3. It is a great community meeting place for events, joggers, picnickers, kite flyers.  I think everyone has been there at one time or another. 60-feet high and 800-feet long - with a 26,000 square foot playground and a 24,0001 square foot skate park, and more.  I want to work on connecting the future Virginia Beach Trail to Mt. Trashmore and further enhance the Trashmore experience.
