RPVB 2022 SEND OFF DINNER

2022 Send OFF! A Smashing Success

The RPVB annual Send Off Dinner for the General Assembly held on Friday January 7 at the Westin Hotel at Town Center was a resounding success! All Hampton Roads legislators attended, and special recognition was given to Attorney General-elect Jason Miyares. Former Governor George Allen introduced Jason by first introducing Jason’s wife, Paige Miyares, who brought her husband on the dais after some memorable personal comments. The highlight of the evening was an address by Governor-elect Glenn Youngkin. Former Governor Bob McDonnell introduced the Governor-elect in grand style and the audience thoroughly enjoyed our future Governors comments. It was a wonderful, celebratory evening designed to send our legislators to Richmond in grand style.

The Republican Party of Virginia Beach (RPVB) also recognized its’ volunteers of the year Friday evening: Mrs. Carol Hickman, Mr. Larry Tyler, and Mr. Alan Tyler. The RPVB has large numbers of dedicated, hard-working volunteers, but these three individuals continually stood out this past year and we recognize their contribution.

Finally, the annual send off dinner is also a fund-raising event for the RPVB, and this year’s dinner was a tremendous success. I want to thank Ms. Sandy Canada, who planned and executed the event, and our RPVB events committee led by Mrs. Ann Abrams-Hammond. Events committee members worked the entire evening. Thanks so much for your hard work in making this event a standout success.

Governor-elect Glenn Younkin’s inauguration is on Saturday 15 January in Richmond. As they expect large crowds with limited parking, we have a bus available, for round trip transportation to the inauguration and parade. Our RPVB Vice-Chair, Nanette Miller, has organized the bus, and it will depart from the park and ride parking lot on Reon Drive, off Indian River Road, at 7:30am Saturday morning, and depart Richmond, for return to Virginia Beach at 5:30pm. There are seats available, but you must call the RPVB office at 757-486-2382 to reserve your seat. Remember, you must have a ticket for the inauguration, in advance, to gain entry, so go to the inauguration website to verify you have a ticket.

We had a great 2021 and look towards an even better 2022. I hope to see each of you at the inauguration and parade on Saturday in Richmond
