Attorney General Jason Miyares, in an interview with Fox News on Tuesday, said “I like to say Virginia is not a red state or a blue state – it’s really just a common-sense state…voters felt like the far-left monopoly had really gotten off the rails pushing a lot of issues that were way outside where most mainstream Virginians were….”. That captures it in noticeably clear terms. Virginians will put up with a great deal and understand the right to have differences of opinion, which is what democracy is all about. However, at some point all Virginians, Democrat and Republican say enough is enough and the extreme positions taken by the General Assembly the past two years do not reflect mainstream Virginia values. Attorney General Miyares is taking bold action to reverse those extreme positions and we applaud him for doing so. This will not be easy, but he must take this action, and he must have the right people on his staff who believe in what mainstream Virginians believe. We can rely upon Attorney General Miyares to keep us informed and he will engage with both those who agree or disagree to explain his position on any action he takes, and why it benefits all Virginians. Let common-sense prevail, once again, in the Attorney Generals office!

On Monday 17 January, Governor Youngkin addressed his first joint session of the General Assembly, reinforcing his inaugural message of unity and inclusion. He highlighted the students of Green Run Collegiate Charter School in Virginia Beach. “They are thriving, and their parents are thrilled,” said the Governor, and set a goal of starting 20 new charter schools. He also stated, “We can lower the tax burden on Virginia families and make crucial investments in those critical pillars to the great Virginia promise of a lower cost-of-living, excellent schools, safe communities, a rip-roaring economy that lifts up all Virginians, and a state government that works for Virginians.”

We applaud our new governor and pledge to do all that we can to ensure that we, working with him, make Virginia the best that it can be.
